Everything listed here is what I'm thinking about and would like to build. It doesn't mean all of it is top priority. I just want you to see the full picture and give me your feedback.

AI features

Automatic translations

I already ran a small poll on rule34.xyz. The consensus was that people are fine with translations, as long as they can switch between manual and automatic. So I'm planning to make this an option in your account settings.

Here's the idea. I understand that people use slang in comments, and that the context of the conversation matters. So the AI model will get the parent comment if there is one, the comments around the one being translated, and some of the same user's other comments so it can pick up on how they write. I'll be experimenting to get the best results.

I'll admit, I'm doing this partly for myself too. There are a lot of Spanish speakers on the site, and I have to translate their comments manually. The browser translator can't handle it because it only translates one language at a time, while a single page can have both Spanish and Portuguese on it.

I'm not going to support every language, just the top 7 or top 10. That should cover 99% of cases.

I'm also considering an advanced setting where you choose which languages get translated automatically and which don't.

Better moderation

AI can also improve moderation a lot, especially where I currently have to review reports by hand.

Experimental site

A lot of people ask me to add user uploads. Many years ago this feature existed, but it turned out that 90% of what users uploaded was junk. And a huge amount of it, way too much for one person to moderate. The site and the audience are much bigger now, so uploads and moderation are a real challenge.

Adding an experimental feature to the main sites is a risky idea. So I'm thinking about creating a new domain with an empty database. A clean slate. You'll need to register to access it. All posts on this site will be uploaded ONLY by users.

This will be the testing ground for uploads and moderation.

What happens after that, I don't know yet. Either the feature gets refined and makes its way to the main sites, or posts will have to go through moderation and filtering on the experimental site before being pushed to the others. Time will tell.

Social features

I've noticed for a long time that some users come to the site just to chat. People also actively use social features like liking and disliking comments, and gifs.

I also get asked a lot to add mentions. That's a separate feature that clearly needs to exist, and it goes together with a notification system. The two are connected.

Right now, the place where users talk to each other is mostly playlist comments. Which tells me people just need a place to talk. Playlists probably aren't the best format for that.

So I've been thinking about building a better space for conversations. It could be a forum, or a user page where people can leave comments. On top of that, if you own a forum thread, you could create roles, like a moderator who can delete comments in your thread. Or you could block a user so they can't access it. The same could work for user pages with comments. But I'm leaning more toward a forum.

Tag picker dialog

This is what I'm working on right now, and it's the blocker for further development of app-next (goon scrolling). The thing is, you can only pick a tag in one place, and that's the main page. It's been like that for a long time. This blocks post filtering anywhere outside the main page, and in general prevents picking a tag wherever it's needed. As soon as it's done, I can move on to post filters.

Post filters

People have been asking for this for a long time, and it's the next thing after the tag picker dialog. The need has been there forever, because you want to filter posts everywhere you can.

The main problem is finding the right UI/UX for showing the filters. I could have thrown something together a long time ago, but I always wanted to do it properly from the start. I've looked at a lot of sites to see how they handle it. The best approach I've seen is civitai's. On mobile it's a bottom sheet, on desktop it's a popover (a dropdown panel). This is called adaptive UI. The bottom sheet is already implemented in app-next, so that work will be reused.

Goon scrolling

I can see you liked the TikTok mode. I'll get back to it right after the tag picker dialog and post filters are done. When there are enough new changes, I'll make a separate announcement. Just know that goon scrolling matters a lot to me.

Trends

Right now, trends just show tag popularity by category and which tags are growing fastest within a category. There used to be a tag popularity chart too, but I had to remove it during the Angular upgrade because the library wasn't compatible.

The trends page is going to be expanded a lot. I won't list everything that's coming, I'll just say there will be more tables and charts. Also, if you select just one tag on the main page, you'll immediately see a short summary for it.

Year in review

Toward the end of the year I'd like to make a separate page with this year's trends, the way Pornhub does every year. I have enough data and statistics for it.

Sometimes, reading comments under announcements or just regular comments on the site, I see people praising the site for how convenient it is. I really appreciate that, even though I think the site is still very far from what I'd call finished. I see your requests. I know what you want. I also notice plenty on my own that could be added. So the work continues. Year after year, and I hope the site only gets better.

Now, the polls...

Announcements now support polls. Since I write both the editor and the renderer myself, I can embed any component I want. Polls are a very convenient way to get feedback. There are two types: single choice and multiple choice. Results can be shown before you vote, or hidden. Only logged-in users can vote. You can change your vote.

This is the most important question. It doesn't mean I'll jump on the winner right away, but it will show me what you want, and that can influence my decision.
